描述
RELATED PATHS is a book that resumes the exhibition RELATED PATHS 4 ARCHITECTS.
Architecture produced in Portugal is one of the cultural manifestations with the greatest recognition outside the country. This is the result of a long process, which began with the dissemination of Álvaro Siza’s work, and with its recognition as heritage, which far surpasses any idea of border or nation. The generations that followed seem to have continued this legacy and today the Architecture produced in Portugal is recognized within and outside its disciplinary environment as a unique activity.
The exhibition Related Paths showcases the work of four Lisbon-based architecture studios. These four studios built works with various points of contact in terms of how they approach architectural culture and the places where they operate. Four constructed works from each studio are shown. These address themes of the contemporary condition such as heritage, reuse, landscape, but also the ambition to build for the greatest number, especially in the field of housing, in the face of the global crisis surrounding this topic.
An exhibition of Portuguese architects in Japan seems to address Japanese culture itself, also characterized by a group of reference architects, whose work has informed part of Western culture since the beginning of the 20th century. In this game of mirrors, the exhibition Retated Paths seeks a dialogue and a process of cooperation between both countries, using the discipline of Architecture as a common territory.
