This is not the first time an architecture magazine has published an issue about light. It will not be the last. The primacy we give to vision, the extent to which we order our world around what is seen or unseen, means that light will always be of concern in how we construct our world. But this issue is about much more than how a shadow falls across a wall. Looking at both natural and artificial light, the AR September issue explores political questions of visibility and invisibility, connections between light and safety, between energy and technology. It features projects by Tadao Ando Architects & Associates, Bevk Perovic, and Lacaton & Vassal, as well as stories from Medellín, Khayelitsha, Hong Kong and much, much more
