Led by artistic director Bonaventure Soh Bejeng Ndikung, the curatorial team of Sonsbeek’s twelfth edition chartered an in-depth artistic journey through labour and its sonic ecologies. This framework connects a millenary history, crossing times and geographies to reach the present moment through a multitude of voices, sounds, and movements. Listen to the sounds relegated to the periphery – those passed on through singing and storytelling – and to embodied narratives. It reveals who is (un)seen, who is (in)dispensable, what is silenced and what reverberates.
