Takenaka Corporation has a history of 410 years since its establishment and 120 years of history, and has left many works to the world. This issue is a special edition that summarizes the design activities for 10 years from 2011 to 2020, following the special issue “TAKENAKA DESIGN WORKS 2001-2010 Takenaka Corporation Design Department” published by the Design Department of Takenaka Corporation in 2010. Following the major changes in society over the last 10 years starting with the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, we have introduced five ways of addressing how they have tackled social issues. In the subsequent section, we will introduce the changes in the workplaces that support design activities and their thoughts on design. Since 1986, we have published a collection of works by Takenaka Corporation’s design department about every 10 years, but by overlooking the group of works in units of 10 years, we can inherit the social changes themselves and what they face.
