The Shinkenchiku 2018:12 Special Issue is an Architect’s Diary of the architect Mitsubishi Jisho Sekkei, which documents the progress of Taipei Nanshan Plaza. It starts with concept designs in partnership with the client Nan Shan Life Insurance and collaborations with local Taiwanese architects and consultants. The 3rd tallest building in Taiwan at 272 meters, Taipei Nanshan Plaza started through a government development competition. The close relationship between the architect and client led to successfully addressing urban and human scale, as well as elements that respond to the surrounding landscape and city. This diary is designed so that it can be read starting from either front or back, allowing the reader to trace the design process from either the beginning or the end. The timeline at the bottom of the page shows how the diverse range of issues were addressed during the course of the project. The issue is presented in three languages, Chinese, Japanese, and English, so that the project can be appreciated by design enthusiasts, students, and architectural professionals around the world. Text in English, Japanese and Chinese.
