Towada Art Center

Towada Art Center is a winning project of the competition.
It isjust like a village of modern art with the common characteristic of separating composition of the sensational work, Moriyama House (2005).

Mr. Nishizawa himself said Teshima museum has been completed in a unique way.
From the beginning of design, it was intended to integrate art and architecture into environment.
The process to its completion in collaboration with Mutsuro Sasaki (A structural engineer) and Ikumi Toyoda (the person in charge from the construction company, Kajima Corporation) is very dramatic like a novel.

Hiroshi Senju Museum Karuizawa

Unlike Teshima Museum, Hiroshi Senju Museum Karuizawa is a very museum basically hanging paintings on the wall. However, its plan began from mysterious image:
Natural light comes in. Trees are lush on undulating land.
There is no wall and paintings are hanging in the air…
It is worth to see the process to make this image happens in reality and the final outcome.

Fukita Pavilion in Shodoshima completed in 2013 appears like both architecture and non-architecture.
It works as the platform of human behavior as well as a part of the landscape, despite its small scale.
His sensibility to material and scale can be found.
