This book gathers a series of design research projects that investigate alternative ways of constructing our relationships with our environment. Environment is a nebulous term that often implies nature. It is implied here too, but only in the sense of the nature of complex, dynamic relations, which includes culture. We are inevitably embedded in environment: we as complex sub-entities both distinguishable and inseparable from an encompassing complex, dynamic entity called environment . If green has become another word for environmental or, of-the-environment, then we are part of its hue. In particular, projects here play with the nature of boundaries that internally differentiate this nested assemblage of complex entities, often making strange the relationships we take for granted and, hopefully, stimulating new ways of imagining what green design could be.
