The 2017 graduation catalogue of the Design Academy Eindhoven, this richly illustrated volume comprises bachelors and masters texts and detailed profiles of many student projects. Its theme, “mined”, is a play on words which explores the changeable and interrelated definitions of “mine”, “mind”, and “mined”. A mine, for instance, is an abundant source, yet because something is mine does not mean that it cannot be yours. It takes time, patience, and perseverance to dig up a treasure, while studying mined fragments can lead to a different perspective. The extensive content covers contextual, social, and information design, as well as approaches to design curating and writing.
