British entertainment architect Mark Fisher (1947–2013) was the greatest designer of rock stages and night events. He created innovative shows with which the most famous singers and bands of our time, such as Elton John, The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Jean-Michel Jarre and U2, went on tour. When he studied at the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London, where he worked with the newly founded group Archigram, Fisher first developed concepts of mobile structures for alternative living. In the 1980s, as a highly talented and imaginative draftsman, he quickly made use of the possibilities of the computer, which was just finding its way into architectural practice. In Germany and around the world, Fisher is best known as the designer of the rock opera “The Wall – Live in Berlin” by Roger Waters. It was performed on July 21, 1990 among the rubble in the former no man’s land on Potsdamer Platz in front of around 300,000 spectators. Millions of people saw the symbolic re-enactment of the fall of the wall, which had taken place only nine months earlier, live on television and sang “Tear down the wall” along with it.
