描述
This issue covers a series of projects which illustrate the most recent architectural production in some countries of southern Europe. Such a panorama produces a new possible connotation of “regionalism” and an altogether complex web of relations among the single solutions, talents, context and international debate.
In this vein the works of the Spanish architects Bach and Mora, Bonell, Cruz and Ortiz, the Portuguese Soutinbo, and young Italian architects are examined, as well as the interesting experiments which were carried out in the city of Cefalù by Culotta and Leone and other younger architects.
As a whole these accounts present a varied panorama of interests which range from small interventions of renovation in the Sicilian city, the systematization of the “ramparts of Cadice,” the industrial complexes and the new large town hall of Matosinhos which concludes a long projectual adventure.
A conference held by Colin Rowe on the intertwining of talent and ideas opens this Lotus, at the same time furnishing a possible and allusive key to reading.
