From personal reflections on the connection between architecture and activism to working with the material earth and with Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh: German architect Anna Heringer seeks to highlight situations, people, challenges and solutions that are often not given enough attention. This book presents her contemplations on light in its many forms – discussing the interplay of clay, textiles and natural light as well as the philosophical concepts of light and hope. Heringer’s reflections as one of the pioneers of sustainable architecture are accompanied here by her work with the women of Dipdii Textiles, whose embroidered sari blankets serve as a common thread throughout the book.
