描述
Five Houses illustrates a series of residential projects in drawings, models, and photographs. More important, it documents Ames’ exploration of “Modern and Pre-Modern space” through the use of rotation, superimposition, and poche. These plan devices result in an architecture of transparency and overlap that is complex and rich without being purely formal. Ames’ colorful renderings are known for their beauty and wit, and are presented here with an introduction by Thomas Schumacher and a postscript by Richard Meier.
