A special hardcover edition examines more than two decades of practice by Swiss architect Christian Kerez. Presented are 26 varied projects, including education, housing, and commercial and public functions. The Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, the Flemish Radio and Television Headquarters (VRT), the University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Muttenz, and Werkbund Wiesenfeld Residential Estate are among the notable works. Essays, the architect’s own photographs, and two conversations (with Georg Franck and with Catherine Dumont D’Ayot, Anh-Linh Ngo, and Nikolai von Rosen) add critical depth to this analysis of one who sees his work as an “adventure”.
Revised joint edition of issues 145 and 182 dedicated to Christian Kerez. It covers the projects developed by the Venezuelan-born architect from 1992 to 2015.
Christian Kerez was born in 1962 in Maracaibo, Venezuela, and earned his degree in architecture from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich. After dedicating himself to publishing his work in the field of architectural photography, he opened his own architectural practice in Zurich, Switzerland, in 1993. He was appointed visiting professor of design and architecture at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich in 2001, assistant professor in 2003, and full professor of design and architecture in 2009. From 2012 to 2013, he held the Kenzo Tange Chair of Architecture at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design in Cambridge, MA, USA. He currently works on various programs of varying scale in France, the Czech Republic, Brazil, and China.
