Amsterdam’s eastern docks area, Oostelijk Havengebied, occupies a cluster of artificial peninsulas laid out at the turn of the last century. When it fell into disuse in the 1970s, the city decided to transform the area into a high-end residential district. Now nearly completed, the project is illustrative of two decades of Dutch architecture and urban design.
