a+u’s September issue features dwellings in France, showcasing a diverse array of projects – newly constructed urban houses, renovated farmhouses, and mixed-use apartment buildings in redevelopment districts. Among the 4 Paris-based projects are social housings by the public agency of the city (RIVP), a multiphase residential complex that blends renovation with new construction in a historic preservation district (PSMV), and student housing on the multicultural campus of Cité internationale universitaire de Paris. These projects highlight the varied efforts of architects and stakeholders when building within this unique and historic city. Additional projects – small houses in a range of locations – reflect the architects’ sensitivity to existing conditions, along with their commitment to creating structures with strong form and character that can both confront and adapt to unique challenges. This issue presents 6 multiunit projects and 12 single-family houses as examples of current work in France that balances the pragmatic with the playful. (a+u)

『a+u』9月号は、フランスの住宅を特集する。掲載作品は、新築の都市住宅や農家の改修、再開発地区の複合用途集合住宅など、多岐にわたる。パリに位置する4つのプロジェクトを例にとれば、市の不動産公団（RIVP）によるソーシャルハウジングや、歴史的保護地区（PSMV）只中における改修と新築を融合させたマルチフェーズの集合住宅、多文化が集うパリ国際都市大学での学生寮など、様々である。これらのプロジェクトは、このユニークで歴史ある都市で建物を建てるということにたいする、建築家やステークホルダーの多様な努力を浮き彫りにする。さらに、各地に建てられた小住宅が示すのは、建築家たちの既存の状況にたいする感性はさることながら、こうしたユニークな状況に対峙しわたり合うことができる力強い形態と個性を備えた建築である。本号では、実用と遊び心を兼ね備えたフランスにおける住宅の実践として、6の集合住宅と12の戸建住宅を紹介する。（編）
