描述

This issue investigates what energy architectures model and express the world in which we live, and how they do it. He presents and participates in the discourse of energy – which is central in industrial societies – and discovers a hidden world for a long time: the territory where energy is produced and transported. Many are the reasons to address this issue at this time: negative reasons that reflect the state of the world, a state that – as we all know since the Rio summit – is due to energy policy decisions; and positive reasons that are related to a recent phenomenon: the new energy architecture. This – that is, the architecture of the transformer stations, substations, hydroelectric plants, etc. – has increased its importance in the last decade. Several projects, mostly European, combine high architectural quality and the desire to “be seen” (aspects that are naturally related). Its new visibility recalls the “golden age” of electricity architecture that occurred between 1900 and the end of World War II, and which is presented as a vigorous alternative to the usual anonymous and trivial “non-architecture” in The field of energy. These buildings – which cover a wide energy spectrum: solar energy, hydroelectricity, transformers, wind energy, etc. “are the testimony that the change in approach has already taken place. They are in a position to demonstrate that a balance between the need is possible of supplying energy and environmental quality, and that they can adopt an architectural form whose objective is to mean, constitute authentic architectural landmarks.
